What do you do when you are in your editing stage and found you've used cliches or other types of overused phrases? Do you try to get rid of all of the cliches in your manuscript? Are there certain ones you purposefully keep? I definitely want to change the ones that are traditionally used in a different way than I mean them because I don't want to cause confusion. Just curious about the rest.

Just moved to Los Angeles, and in the process of job applications (how long does it take to get hired? I've been applying for less than a month). I had one interview but we haven't discussed money. I moved from Minneapolis where the average for entry level designers/architects is $46,000. Is it the same here? Trying to see how much I should ask. It's my fist job after grad school.

That stereotype may appeal to our interest in a narrative where geeks take over the world, but the Mark Zuckerberg-inspired vision is absolutely

1. Waste Time Feeling Sorry for Themselves. You don’t see mentally strong people feeling sorry for their circumstances or dwelling on the way they’ve been mistreated. They have learned to take responsibility for their actions and outcomes, and they have an inherent understanding of the fact that frequently life is not fair. They are able to emerge from trying circumstances with self-awareness

By Shannon David At VolunteerMatch, we like to practice what we preach, which is one of the many reasons I feel lucky to work here. Last month, I was able to take a week off from my normal duties supporting our nonprofit community and join 11 other volunteers from around the U.S. on a week-long trip to Santiago, Chile with Habitat for Humanity’s Global Village Program. Apple (AAPL, Tech30) has been rumored to be working on a 12.9-inch iPad for ages, and there were grumblings that the company might finally unveil its bigger tablet at the Apple Watch event on Monday. But multiple news reports suggest that the big iPad now won't be available until the fall. On the surface, a giant iPad seems like a head-scratching move for Apple. IPad sales have shrunk for

If 2012 was the year of MOOCs (massive open online courses) in higher education, then the flipped classroom was the innovation of the year for K–12 schools (see “The Flipped Classroom,” what next, Winter 2012). Both the New York Times and the Washington Post spilled ink over the phenomenon. Several authors resorted to old-fashioned books to discuss flipping, including the two teachers who all
