Hi all,
Is there any difference when it comes to sending a query letter of a children's book to an agent as compared to a fiction novel?
Do we have to send in a synopsis or anything like that? I figured since a children's picture book is short, they wouldn't mind giving it a quick skim.
Thanks!

Book Editing What do you do when you are in your editing stage and found you've used cliches or other types of overused phrases? Do you try to get rid of all of the cliches in your manuscript? Are there certain ones you purposefully keep?
I definitely want to change the ones that are traditionally used in a different way than I mean them because I don't want to cause confusion. Just curious about the rest.

Book Editing Is there a good place one can go to find some beta readers or writing partenrs? I mean, friends and family are nice, but, it would be great to find someone who doesn't feel like they have to be polite.

Architechture Just moved to Los Angeles, and in the process of job applications (how long does it take to get hired? I've been applying for less than a month).
I had one interview but we haven't discussed money. I moved from Minneapolis where the average for entry level designers/architects is $46,000. Is it the same here? Trying to see how much I should ask. It's my fist job after grad school.

Announcements If Hollywood wants to portray an entrepreneur in a movie, then he -- and it’s usually a he – is in his early 20s, may or may not have a college degree, is probably wearing blue jeans and a hoodie, and is a bit unkempt, with messy hair and facial hair.
That stereotype may appeal to our interest in a narrative where geeks take over the world, but the Mark Zuckerberg-inspired vision is absolutely

Articles 1. Waste Time Feeling Sorry for Themselves. You don’t see mentally strong people feeling sorry for their circumstances or dwelling on the way they’ve been mistreated. They have learned to take responsibility for their actions and outcomes, and they have an inherent understanding of the fact that frequently life is not fair. They are able to emerge from trying circumstances with self-awareness

Translation Security Sunday: iPhone and iPad Verification
Early Tuesday, a number of Australian iPhone and iPad owners awoke to find their devices locked, with an alert asking for $50 to $100 to give access back. The lesson: It's easier than you think for someone to get into your Apple products -- even if a thief doesn't have the actual iPhone in his or her hands.
One way to make yourself that much saf

The College Student By Shannon David
At VolunteerMatch, we like to practice what we preach, which is one of the many reasons I feel lucky to work here. Last month, I was able to take a week off from my normal duties supporting our nonprofit community and join 11 other volunteers from around the U.S. on a week-long trip to Santiago, Chile with Habitat for Humanity’s Global Village Program.

Volunteering Apple (AAPL, Tech30) has been rumored to be working on a 12.9-inch iPad for ages, and there were grumblings that the company might finally unveil its bigger tablet at the Apple Watch event on Monday. But multiple news reports suggest that the big iPad now won't be available until the fall.
On the surface, a giant iPad seems like a head-scratching move for Apple.

News & current Events The C in linguistics proved to Rebecca Mercado that college was going to be different.
“It was the first time I had ever received a grade lower than a B, and it was upsetting,” admits Mercado, a biochemistry and cell biology major at the University of California, San Diego. Authors If 2012 was the year of MOOCs (massive open online courses) in higher education, then the flipped classroom was the innovation of the year for K–12 schools (see “The Flipped Classroom,” what next, Winter 2012).
Both the New York Times and the Washington Post spilled ink over the phenomenon. Several authors resorted to old-fashioned books to discuss flipping, including the two teachers who all

Authors Has a client ever asked you to make the logo bigger? Maybe they asked that just after you completed their request to make a heading bigger. The new heading stands out, but now the logo is too small in comparison and isn’t getting noticed. The clients wants to make the logo bigger.
Of course, now that the logo and heading are bigger, both are going to attract more attention than the main call-

Website Design Recently, I was having a discussion with some web design students about the variety of skills a successful web professional must have — skills that go far beyond HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the other technical demands of the profession. During this conversation, one of the students asked me where I learned these skills. My response was not one the class expected.
“By playing in a band,” was my
